CA down To La Paz Mexico

Not I. I live in San Diego and never ride in Baja.
Heard too many bad stories. Breakdowns, accidents, long wait tor ambulance. poor hospital treatment. getting back home with severe injuries. relatives having to make arrangements. Not to mention theft and drug cartels.
if you must be sure you have all your ownership papers, and buy Mexican insurance because most US insurance companies won’t cover. Also check with medical insurance provider. Let credit card and ATM bank know you will be using your card there otherwise they may not accept charges and withdraws.

Made that trip 3 years ago. Highway 1 is in pretty good shape. Take the toll road from Tijuana to Ensenada. Estero Beach resort is a good place to camp or hotel. Mama Espinoza’s in El Rosario is a famous eatery, though I was unimpressed with the lobster burritos. Catavina had a pretty decent hotel for being in the middle of nowhere. From there I pushed down to Mulege which is loaded with ex-pats. Great ride along the coast of the Sea of Cortez all the way to La Paz. There are 2 or 3 military checkpoints along the way. I don’t speak a lot of Spanish except for Hola and Cerveza, so the just sent me on through. Only got hit on by the police for la mordida (bribe) once at a Federale police checkpoint. $3 in pesos seemed to please them. DO NOT RIDE AFTER DARK. I cannot emphasize that enough. Livestock, unmarked speed bumps, broken down trucks in the middle of the road. Don’t make my mistake. I did it one night, not worth the risk. Anyway, it’s a great ride and adventure. Have a good trip.

Thanks for both reply's:
Bad stuff happens just staying home, riding at night has never been a planned thing and wont be doing that. I too do not speak Spanish, so should not upset the local law enforcers or Feds with poor language skills.
Will check insurance etc, bank also, do they accept USD cash at hotels and such ?
Any more pos & neg welcome Thanks
