Kojak's ride to Daytona 2024!
 

Okay, its 6:24 am and about 25 degrees in Winchester VA area. I'm meeting Joe at a local gas station at 7 am and then we are off to our 20th bike week ride together, more like 40 years for me. Rich will meet us on Saturday when he comes down from PA, this has been our annual tradition for 2 decades! We are all harley nuts and love all things motorcycles at Bike Week.
Today's agenda is to do the 600 miles or so to Savannah GA for an overnight stay and we'll roll into Daytona Beach Friday mid day. I'll post pictures as the trip progresses. See you on the road.

It was an eventful ride today. We stayed in the 30’s and 40’s for majority of the ride, it was dry all day on a positive note. We did 155 miles first stretch all in the 20’s, averaged 35 mpg running 85 mph pretty much the entire stretch into southern va. Stopped for breakfast at our regular diner in troutsville.

We did 610 miles total today in 11.5 hours. There was a bad wreck in the fancy gap area on I77 that had us stationary for 45 minutes, the truck driver in front of us got out of his cab and gave us 2 bottles of water, greatly appreciated! We ran 172 miles in the second leg averaging 37.5 mpg. Ran into a bike wreck on I26 E. The biker had run off the hwy and his bike was in a ditch 30 yards away from the road. The paramedics were onsite, hope he is ok.

Stuck on I77!

Next leg was 180 miles averaged 37.5 mpg again running 85-90 the whole way. Filled up one last time and rolled into Savannah at 630 pm. Went to have chow at our favorite joint around here called agaves. Tomorrow looks like a damp ride into Daytona, will update tomorrow nite.

The weather forecast fri morning said rain in Savannah at 11 am, Jacksonville around 1 pm and partly cloudy and dry in Daytona. So we figured we would leave at 730 am and avoid rain in our 230 mile ride to Daytona. About 50 miles into our ride, it gets dark and starts sprinkling. We pull over to the median on I95 and put our rain gear on. Boy, am I ever glad we did. It was heavy rain all the way to St Augustine!
