Looking for a little help to find a good place to stay in or around Estes Park in late Aug. I have looked a ton of them on line but it is hard to tell a good one from a bad one. Any help from someone local or anyone that has past experience there. Thanx. Jeff

 \\; We have traveled Estes numerous times and have found that rooms are readily available. Seems that some motels change hands and either improve or \\;not. What i'm saying is \\;that we were always able to arrive and \\;find a decent place each time. Just ask to see the room before \\;deciding. \\;
Only been there once with on a Paranormal trip so I cant say much other than it is beautiful there but the Stanley Hotel is a really nice place and can be an interesting experience all in it's own.
Stayed at http://silvermooninn.com/ \\;it was walking distance to everything and on the edge of town. Most places to stay there are expensive but you could always check out smaller town close by and ride in to Estes. Getting there is half the fun whatever direction you're coming from.
Try VRBO.COM. \\; This website has houses and condos to rent directly from owners. You might find a deal. We rented a conco in Winter Park and rode thru RMNP to Estes.
The wife and I have stayed at this place \\; http://www.sunnysideknoll.com/ \\; The people there are good and the cabins are nice. Hard to beat a hot tub inside the cabin.
eat at least one meal at Claire's on the Park, a yellow building (old house) right on the main street, this was a recommendation by Thunder Mountain Harley, the owner is a customer. Try anything that he has smoked (the best ribs I have ever had) his name is smoking Al, tell him Mike and Tom from Dayton Ohio told you to try it.
Thanx Mike I believe I will have to try the ribs. I love smoke ribs and if you had mentioned any other cut of meat I would have not been that impressed. But ribs... Mmmm, I am already hungry. I am there man! I have it saved on the GPS.
I guess the real question is length of time and budget.
The YMCA has both camping and cabins, and is a great place to stay, and is on the lower scale of cost.
The Stanley is nice, but even better are the "townhomes/condos" behind that they have for rent. Each usually has a hot tub, steam shower, full kitchen, etc. These are obviously on the higher end of the spectrum.
