Riding from Alaska to Oklahoma on a sportster!!! 1 month to do it!
so i talked to my boss today and he said i could take 30 days of leave in august! im so stoked! I'm going to ride from Anchorage Alaska to Moore Oklahoma during that time. i PCS this winter so I will be leaving my bike down at my dads shop. I'm going to start getting parts for the bike to take that far. i will be installing my stock shocks on and buying a small windsheld. I'm going to fab up a sissy bar or a luggage rack to strap a tent and back pack to. I plan on camping out 95% of the way to save money. im taking some tools, rain gear, and thats about it. would a new set of tires make it down all the way with no problem? any advice?
heres my bike. shocks and a windshield should make the trip bearable. http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...thebike039.jpg |
Yeah, look me up when you get here. I'm 30 minutes north of Moore and I'll show you the town!

Plenty of people have ridden Sportsters *to* AK (check out the ride reports on XLForums.net)
Your bike is pretty cool. To make it a little beter for long distance...yeah, a front fender....if you get a windshield, you may or may not have to do something about your bars.....rear shocks........your seat? how comfy is that after two tanks? (you cold buy a seat pad to help) Enjoy! |
