From Al to CA, yosemite then up the pacific coast
 

Plans are to burn the vacation this year riding from Birmingham, Al to Yosemite, then up the pacific coast highway. Previously, Ive been through the Rockies, Yellowstone, Sturgis, Grand Canyon and across on into Vegas. Im looking for info on points of interest, and 'must do' places to ride. I'll be riding two up and tent camping. Planning the trip for sometime around July-August, with two weeks to burn.

Pacific Coastal Highway is a lovely run, we did it from the southern end of California, all the way up to the Northern end of Washington. I gotta say, its better to do it south to north cause then at least you are on the ROCK side of the road, opposed to the WATER side. Either way, you got about 2 feet of space and then.........................
And the orange line is optional: oncoming drivers, particularily busses, rv's, trucks, and crotch rockets use any side, any time they feel like it. Be very careful!!

When you get into WA, there are plenty of state campgrounds to tent camp in. Ilwaca and Long Beach are nice towns. Long Beach is more set up for tourists.
Just have to watch out for the raccoons, they have no fear of getting into your stuff.
