A good start would be to head down HWY 10 South to Gore and then pick out a route back north such as Ark. 59. There is some great riding in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas.

The only good ride in OK is the one out of there!! Haha

Try the ride from Talihina, Ok to Mena, Ark...............really pretty

Check out my website for some rides in NW Arkansas.
http://www.virtualhale.com/cruzn You need to get up to Miami OK. Check out the bike museum there on Route 66. There are some good roads in South Missouri also around Roaring River State Park. |

We live close to each other... welcome. There are two scenic rides very close to you, one is highway 82 between Spavinaw and Locust Grove and the other is scenic highway 10? going south from Kansas, OK to Tallaquah along the Illinois river. Broken Bow, in the Southeast probably has the best locations. BTW... if you do trip down through Spavinaw, take it slow the first few times. Much of the road is too flat and there isn't a shoulder, just a chance to head down the side of the steep slope with lots of trees to hit on the way down. You will see one curve with the sign "dead man's curve" for good reason. |
I lived in Joplin 25 years ago. A few places I liked to ride not too far from you; Roaring River, Yureka Springs, and of course the Branson area. Most of SW Mo. and NW Ark. have great riding roads.

Hell yeah thanks for the heads up on the routes I will definetely be getting out when we get some warm weather again... I'm here in Grove, ok and have every intention of riding everywhere in this area... I just moved from KC and there is not a whole lotta good rides around there...

you are situated in a good area for riding. There are numerous great roads there. Also the NW Ark area is awesome. A good overnight ride would be the Capitol city, OKC. Great museums, bike shops, watering holes, etc. Enjoy!!

The Quarts Mountain area in southwest Oklahoma is interesting. It's been 16 years since I lived there but I enjoyed the area and have good memories traveling the rural roads around that area. That might be to far for a weekend ride but there is camping and a resort.
