Day Ride-Western Illinois, SE Iowa
Got the new '05 E Glide Standard about a month or so ago and needed to get a good day ride in so I contacted my buddy in SE Iowa('02 Road King) and we decided to meet last Saturday in Roseville, IL(south of Monmouth) about 95 miles west of my home in Bloomington/Normal. We met at 10 am and headed west to Lomax, Dallas City and on to Niota. We crossed the bridge to IA at Ft. Madison and headed down the IA River Rd. Stopped at a River Overlook and could see Nauvoo, IL and the Mormon Temple in the distance. After the sightseeing we continued on to Keokuk and then crossed back to IL at Hamilton. Stopped for a bite to eat at a nice little hometown type restaurant. We then headed up the IL River Road to Nauvoo and enjoyed the river view from the IL side. We back tracked to Dallas City and then over to Macomb, IL where we stopped to get a soft drink at the Burger King. We parted ways to our homes and I took Route 136 straight across to Heyworth and up Route 51 to Bloomington/Normal and my home. It was 70 some degrees, sunny skies and lots of bikes on the road. Best day I have had in along time. Total miles 352.

I was born and raised in Keokuk and used to ride that River Road back in the 70's on a Honda 360. That was a super nice road to ride.
Have not been back there for years, now ride the back roads of PA, MD and DE and there are some pretty nice roads out hear also.
Ride safe and enjoy the Midwest.

Purvissp, Lived in the Midwest all my life. Grew up on the Mississippi River in SE Iowa. The river roads have some nice scenery and slow curves. It isn't as exciting as the mountains or near the ocean but it rides pretty much the same I am sure. Good to know others have enjoyed it too. Hope you have some good, safe rides where you are.
