I'm going to ride my Fat Boy, solo, across the country. I need luggage anyway, so I'm looing to but some of the new H-D Premium luggage to mount on my sissy bar. I figureon 3 shirts, pants, socks, and underwear plus the out fit I start of with. I also have the detachable saddle bags, so I figure sneakers, a pair of waterproof Red Wings I of often wear when riding, and my packable raingear with all that in my saddle bags. The heck with the cooking, so I'll skip the grill and cookware, get coffee and and egg sandwich for breakfast, p/u yogurt for lunch, and eat cheap dinners- I don't need the beer and dessert making me fat after staying in shape this long. Every few nights I'll stay with famiy and friends, so I'll shower, eat hardy, and do my laundry then/ I could use some suggestions on a durable but space saving air mattress nd sleeping bag, and when I p/u a shirt from the h+d dealers I pass I'll just put it n after a shower and send whatever I don't think I need home in those flat-rate postage boxes. Need be, I'l have anything I forget overnighted to the next friend on the list's house.
I'm pretty much driving clockwise around the country, so I'll have to start researching the safe campground along the way. I don't use a hair drier, can shave with soap lather and a razor, and wi'll pick up water to drink as needed. Sunglasses,a hat, helmet, and Android phone, memory cards full of music and for taking pictures, s
a few pairs of Skull Candy ear plugs are essential. The jury is still out on a camera or using the cell phone (it has navigation and a 8 Megapixel camera). I could get a 12v plug to keep the phone charged.
I like the idea of laying out your clothes a month in advance, a great way to thin out wat you really need, and a great way to think about what you really need.
Advice on a specific tent, cushion for the sleeping bag (hard lumpy ground), and sleeping bag will be a great help. I'm figuring on some fleece for the night-time- maybe the kind you can zipper off the parts that will make you too warm.
All suggestions and experience is greatly appreciated!

I was in Dick's Sporting Goods yesterday, I always stop and take a peek in the camping/backpacking section to see new stuff on the shelves. There were a couple of self inflating air matresses that compacted down to unbelievably small bundles. Pricey but would last a lifetime and worth a look.

Default Trailers are great

I have pulled a trailer with my '02 Ultra for years and have never had a problem. You don't feel the trailer behind you, and have never had a problem with them. I have a small cargo trailer and a larger pop-up camper trailer that I pull with the bike. We took the pop-up trailer to Alaska and back from the east coast...loved every minute of it. If you really like camping and ridding they are great.
