Default Exhaust smell after de-catting headpipe

Ryan,

I have run Big Louies with 2.5 baffles in my 2012 Limited since new. I recently de-catted the headpipe and added a set of Woods 222cams. I had if dynoed but now I notice a lot of exhaust fumes while riding. Will a 2.0 or 2.25 baffle help get rid of the fumes? I thought maybe the tune was too rich, but the dyno guy says it's spot on. Also I am getting some discoloration on the front cone area of the muffler. How can I get rid of that? Thanks

Running lean and super hot blues the exhaust. I'd check your exhaust gaskets though. You'll get fumes up front from that too. You'll get more out back since you pulled the cat out and that's part of its job but they shouldn't be noticed when riding

Dan.1977P,
Thanks for the reply. I did change the exhaust gaskets and that helped to reduce the fumes. I was wondering if changing to a more restrictive baffle would also help reduce the fumes. Is there anything that will take off the bluing on the pipes. I'm hoping that after adding more fuel with the dyno will put any end to that problem. I'm OK with a hint of exhaust occasionally, but my wife however is not so much. If momma ain't happy....

Are you sure whoever decatted them welded them completely? Also, are the mufflers sealed all the way too where they attach to the headers?

Check for air leaks. We don't support modifying exhaust the way you did. However, with open aftermarket head pipes, the 2.25" works best. If the smell is excessive and the muffler is discoloring, you have a tuning issue. That could be caused by a leak or the fuel management's map needs to be changed. Check for leaks at the muffler clamps. We recommend tightening them to 65 ft/lbs and using new ones.

Thanks Ryan,

I think I'm going to order a new set of 2.25 baffles for my Big Louies. Can you tell me what the part number for the 2.25 baffles for the Big Louies is? I want to make sure to get the correct ones. No one in my area has the Rush baffles so I will need to find a place to order them from. Any suggestions? Thanks again.
