Default Hard starting when hot 110SE

Hi all, I'm stopping by from the Dyna forum. My 2016 Low Rider S came with a factory 110SE motor, which I believe has been in the CVO's for a few years now.

My problem is I am having recurring hot start problems. In the morning it's fine, starts right up no prob. However if I try and restart when the motor is hot, say stopping for gas, or anything less then a 30 min wait or so, 8 times out of 10 it will slow crank one turn, pop a voltage insufficient error and either turn over again and eventually start, or equally often the compensator will kick back with a loud clank.

Dealer had tested the battery and charging system and found no problem (fwiw)

I replaced the battery with a 310 Yuasa that started equally quickly when cold, but same vinerr and kickback when hot. So it's not the battery.

The bike is about 3 months old and has only 2500mi so I don't think it's a terminal corossion problem either. Plus the easy cold starts would eliminate that as well I think.

I'm going to check the starter and ground terminals later today, just to be sure, but I wanted to ask here since there are more of the 110's here then in the Dyna forum.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I had the same problem on an 07 ultra. Was checked by two different shops. I finally checked the starter bolts. Guess what, they were both so looses the starter wasn't getting a good ground.

Ok, I just wanted to see if this was an inherent problem with the 110 motor.

Thanks for the responses.

It's not an inherent problem with the 110 engine. Ron

When a motor is having a hard time turning over and the battery is fine, the connections are all tight and clean, the ground is good, then check the compression releases.

Did you get this sorted out? My FXDLS is doing the exact same thing. Took it to the dealer twice.
