2016 CVO Road GLIDE - Is this a good deal?
Hello All,
i'm visiting from the 'Rushmore Touring' forum. Right now I own a 2014 Limited that I might trade for a NEW 2016 CVO RG. Trying to figure out if the following is a good deal...
Trade: My bike w/6500 miles. Vivid Black with some chrome pieces, some blacked out pieces and a Stage I set up.
The Dealer is 'over allowing' the trade at $20K, He says it should be around $16K (I owe HD finance $17K - so there's a + $3K that will be applied to the CVO at the bottom).
Before any trade is applied, they're selling me the CVO for $37K + freight & prep at approx $1400 for a total of $38,400.
When the dust settles; trade money, CT sales tax, 'paperwork' fees applied and all, it's mine to finance at $36,400 (before any additional down payment).
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks in advance.

I think you could do a little better. Recently they were offering 20% discounts on left over CVOs here in NC and giving fair amounts on trade. You have to remember you are buying a bike almost 2 model years old and when you pick it up it will drop several thousand dollars in value. My suggestion would be to take the add-ons off of your 14, sell them and still expect the $20,000 trade. Then hit them up for another $1,000-$2,000 off the new bike. It is costing them money to keep the CVO on the floor and it keeps them from getting as many 17 CVOs so they need to sell it. Make a crazy offer, worst they can say is no, best they can say is yes. I bought my first CVO about 2 months ago with no regrets. They are great bikes with all the features you could ever want. Good luck in your decision.

see dealer cost say invoice on bike is approx 32,300. with a proposed retail of 40,300.

I agree with Dave, and would recommend that you deal a bit harder. Ask for free freight, set-up and another grand off or get the freight and set-up for free and get the first two services done for free. If they go for that, than I think you would be walking away with a good deal. As Dave said, it won't be all that long until the 2018 models are hitting the showrooms. Make the dealer work for your business. If they want to move the bike there is always room to haggle.

The 16 RG CVO Ultra listed at $42,299.
I think your deal is fair. 3K better on your trade (should save on sales tax) and $5,300 of MSRP.
Off course some will say you can do better. It depends on how far it is to the next dealer that has one. Not many left. My dealer sold the last 17 CVO that he was scheduled to get. He sold the last 16 CVO in January.
A dealer in Rock Falls, Il. had one listed at $8K off but it may be gone.

The Harley dealer in Columbia TN had a new 16 for $32k. But I doubt they would show you that much on your trade though because they were selling 14's for right at 19k last time I was in there. When I was looking for my CVO they had one on the way but wouldn't give me jack for my SG. So I went somewhere else.
