Default Is the Stock air filter washable or not? 2017 CVO

2017 CVO Streetglide...the manual says the air filter is washable. Just air dry and reinstall, no oil like a K&N type.
Yet at my last dealer service they said at the next scheduled serivce it should be replaced.
I'm thinking the service tech needs some more schooling, I'm planning on washing it before the next service and see whether they want to sell me a new filter.

might be it has a tear or something that they are suggesting you replace it? Other wise it should be good to go for many more years.

Thanks for the confirmation. I cleaned it after the service and I'll do it again before the next. I didn't see any tears.

Until I got this CVO i did all my own basic service, I think I might go back to that.

I have cleaned mine using Dawn dishwashing soap, same as the K&N, did not come as clean looking as I hoped. Also bought the held dear version K&N from Harley, as it is only available from dealers so far. Now I can swap and ride as they dry.

I washed mine three times with the K&N cleaner before replacing it with the K&N element. I was washing it every 1,500 miles or so because I live in the dessert and it gets dirty fast. After four washes the element is still in perfect condition and on the shelf as a spare.

The K&N filer element wasn't cheap, but it was worth the upgrade. The filter gets black on the outside, but there's almost zero grime on the throttle body to wipe off. That was not the case with the OEM dry filter.
