I had a "tick" lifter at the morning startup on my T/C 88.
Must not have been serious as the lifters made 77,000 miles until I sold the bike!
My '13 CVO 110 had a noise (valve train/tappet area) at about 2900 RPM's under moderate acceleration, but under harder throttle it quieted right down that no one could diagnose until I took the bike to a dealer that I've had engine work done with before.
The head mechanic said that he couldn't say for sure that new lifters would eliminate the noise but after hearing so many complains and comments of it being a "ticking time bomb", I had new lifters installed and I've not heard the noise since.
UPDATE:
I had the lifters replaced in my 110 earlier this season and the noise that I had sine the bike was new at 2,900 RPM's is gone!
I haven't put many miles on the bike (been a bad season for me) but I'm happy so far.
S&S std. lifters are fine, and load the lifter to .140" with an adj pushrod.
Oil?
We use a ton of Spectro 25W60 petroleum oil here, for our constant service work and clients will ask us "what did you do?....my bike is quieter now".....only repeating what we are hearing.

14 FLHRSE here. Changed out my lifters at ~18K miles to S&S premium and quickie push rods. About 29K now. Probably normal noise before the change (changed them as a precaution after hearing a few failure stories) and noticably quieter since.
Mine will be changed at 15,000 miles. The new S&S lifters are in my tool box waiting for the install. Will also be installing Rocker Lockers. Amsoil is my oil of choice and filters too.
update the dealer changed out the oil filter and topped off the oil sale they were thinking maybe a defect in the filter I have been ridding it almost every day this week and no noise but it would happen when it sits for a few days so we will see

Get that in writing, that's a new one. Down the road you get internal failure your gonna need that to CYA.
Mine started the cold start clatter at about 15,000 miles, I had replaced the cam with a torque cam at 5,000 miles. Dealer thought the push rod adj might be to tight. I will adj the pushrods again and check for cold start clatter. At least one clatters for approx. 30 seconds. Yes I am running syn oil, tried Amsoil, Syn 3, Red line, Maxima Pro and Mobil 1 4 stroke. Can not say which is the best, but I do prefer Redline, but we live in Northern NY and rarely see above 90* but 45* in AM is or can be the norm..
update still quiet I might do some engine work over the winter just not sure ho far to go yet was not happy with trade numbers from 2 different dealers so I guess I keep it
my 2016 Ultra limited CVO was always noisy. 34k on it now and just had the engine replaced under warranty. Main cam bearing went sent metal throughout and roached the thing. I didnt notice too much of a difference in the noise but definitely lost lots of power. Had the lifters, adjustable push rods and main cam bearing upgraded. It still killed my Sturgis trip as it happened 4 days into the rally..
