What's the top speed on the CVO Road Kings?

...and how well do they handle at higher speeds? I've been drooling over the '14 CVO Road King for a while now. I'm curious how well they handle and accelerate at higher speeds. I've also wondered what the top end is on them.?.? I'd like to have a cruiser/touring bike that will get up and go without having to do a ton of mods to it...and one that will handle well at higher speeds too.

I appreciate the feedback!

Cycle World last year tested a CVO Road Glide against the Honda FB6. Both topped out at 126. The Honda was 12.2 and the CVO was 12.4 in the 1/4.

The King should match that or a tad better with the fewer pounds that it carries.

I do not know for sure but the 126 mph top speed was probably EMC limited.

I passed a truck yesterday. I was rolling 70 and just rolled into in 6th gear. When I got back in line I looked down and was surprised to see the speedo at 100. It wasn't pegged by any means as I never bottomed the throttle. It is by far the most solid HD that I've ever ridden. My cvo RK rides better than my 12 WG , SG , and switchback. It is a little stiffer than the SG which is favorable to me.

Excellent feedback Gentlemen. Thank you. That '14 RK is looking better and better all the time!

165mph

when I did dyno on mine cvo '14 it did 165 mph , but I don't know if it would do same speed on road and who would try that, had cams , exhaust change...

Wow! I would...if the bike would handle it and the road conditions were right...but I most definitely have a need for speed.

The gears in my head are turning...trying to figure out a way to make it happen...I don't need another payment right now!

There is no (aerodynamic) drag on the dyno...

'Was surprised to see the RG actually pull 126... My '09 SERG (pipe/tune) was still accelerating at 110 or so, but didn't feel like it had that much more...

My stock '05 SEEG will pull over that as it runs way past the pin.

Once we get the 117/DD7 in the '09 SERG sorted, we will see what time it is on the GPS:icon_eddie:

I have had no problem maintaining speeds above 100 for many many mile. With sort 3-5 mile in between above 115

I've had my 12 CVO RG skunk at 126 on the freeway. Speed was limited by ecm. The was with my 110. Now that it has a 120R. I suspect it could achieve a great speed however the ecm is still the limiting factor. I have looked where this might be changed in my PV software but I can not seem to locate that parameter

165mph really you think you could get that out of any stock harley cvo or not I don't think so. My GSXR did about 160mph it was about 400lbs and 150hp and a much better drag coefficient. I have done over 165mph on other bikes and I would be terrified of going that speed on any HD I have ever ridden. (Buell excluded). 100mph or there abouts is plenty once you have ridden a bike designed to go that fast, you just can't stop it fast enough.
