Totally agree. ;) I had that problem with my last Limited. Although comfortable with apes, it just didn't look great (to me). Not a problem on a RG.

Worry more about loosing prime on your master cylinder...

I wouldn't. The S&S plate and pump are not a guaranteed fix for sumping. One or two people have actually taken it off and put the OEM back on with the new oil pump backing plate seal.
