Lizzy, make sure you stuff some clean rag into the inlets where the carb came off, while the carb is off the bike . you would be surprised what can drop in there.... ive learned the hard way

looks good to me....i would just give it a good going over, then ride it a bit to see how it behaves before doing anything with the cosmetics...its a real pain to get things chromed and painted then...

i had exactly the same issue..fumes, smells seeping up to the house. i changed the pet cock and that cured it, then i rebuilt the S&S Super E ( how easy it was too, i followed the S&S You Tube vid )...

ive had the primary off my 82 FLH ..yes it gets oil mist from the breather on your gear case via a hose to the back of your inner primary case.... on further inspection the line was blocked with gunk...
