My first couple long bikes had no front brakes and the Brits I had the front drum was as useful as tits on a nun. Disc systems were just starting to show and there was no aftermarket for them yet....

OP in that heat and no lane splitting stay in 4 wheels if it's gonna suck being jammed up in traffic you should at least be comfortable in the AC.
