Oilslick, you are correct, there should be 2 dowels. I had the four holes but no dowel pin in one of them. Not as unlucky are you, but still a production line hick-up I guess. I made up a dowel...

Firstly, those dowels are wierd, here's what i found..... In the '07 service manual it shows 2 dowels, I have not yet seen the '06 service manual, (but it is due today),I expect it...

Just go to the tech section on this forum and look at the "primary,gearbox" section and you will know exactly why the IPB failed.

Those pictures show the problem, and Mud is always helpful, I cought mine early and so the rollers were OK and the race was badly gouged. I used 9231 ( as listed by my dealer and Mud...

the roller bearing is 9231 and MUCH MORE importantly the inner race is now the improved 34091-08.
You can read my post about this change that many of you missed. I used a "jims"...

I got 'em. They are on my 06 dyna. They are great, they are actually "thinner" than the stock muffs, so don't scrape in the corners. The sound is perfect cause they have 2 baffle plates...

It definately will need new steering head bearings, even though they tightened them the damage was already done, there will be dents in the outer race caused by the rollers moving...
