I removed the gas tank and put in poly bushings when I did mine. Having the tank totally out of the way to me just made it easier getting to the wring harnesses and connectors in the frame.

Most excellent! That's kinda what I did. Found what I needed with Magnum Shielding, looked up the Magnum part number on Dennis Kirk, it was delivered about 3 days later.

I put 10" mini apes on mine and didn't have to extend the wires. I did put on a 37" upper clutch cable and 42" brake line but could have used the stock ones by rerouting. I rode it a couple times...

TBW grips aren't bad at all, you don't have to mess with and adjust cables. The end of the TBW sensor is notched, like a little gear, the new grip is notched internally and just slips over that.
