Brake line replacement on 72 FLH. How?
 

I need to replace the hard steel brake line on my 72 FLH THAT GOES FROM THE master cylinder to the rear juice brake flex line. The flex line begins at the swing arm.

The steel line runs under the bike. Do I need to pull the motor to do this? Sure looks that way! Help!

That line is in two sections BTW. First section goes to the brake light switch near the left floor board. The second goes from there to the tab on the frame that the rubber line is on the other side. It should just slide out from under the inner primary. I hope this helps

This bikes got me rolling on the floor! I still haven't found a brake switch on this thing! The line is one piece with no "T" for the switch. What you described is how I thought it should go. I'll get a tee. There should be amounting screw hole for the tee somewhere under there, right? Glad I bought a lift!

Are there three holes or 4 on that hydraulic T? Just three, right?

On the 72 FLH the T was on the right side in front of the transmission. It was secured to the front transmission plate bolt.

Boom...found it right away. Saw the sending unit and the tee right behind it.

Good...now I can disconnect that line, bend and flare a new one and hook it up to my rebuilt master cylinder. Still waiting for a freaking 7/16 Allen to come from eBay so I can take the rear end apart and install a new wheel cylinder. Nobody has a 7/16 Allen. Not one auto parts store. Need it to undo hub from brake

The allen may do it but the stock lug nut wrench had longer arms then a typical allen wrench. The kind that you can put on a ratchet may work better.

If the Allen doesn't work, I'll find a 7/16 socket hex head Allen thingy. Might have trouble fitting it through the access hole in the hub. What's a stock lug nut wrench? An HD tool? I'll have to look for that one. Thanks

V-twin carries a replica of the stock harley allen wrench (longer arms to clear the hub) and the socket style as well. They also made an extension handle for it to give you more leverage. The harley part number was No: 11815-35, the V-twin no. is VT No: 16-0102
