That's the original style I still use. Pull the clip, take it apart, wash it out and reassemble with a new filter. Don't forget the gasket on top. I like this type because you can see what type of crap you are picking up. It gave me an early warning when a wrist pin bushing was failing. I bought a case of the original style filters for about a $1.00 a piece.

A shop owner friend used to order from Dixie Distributing and gave them to me for cost. Dixie once had the best prices on parts for vintage machines. Sorry to say the owner of Dixie died and his family sold the inventory to a liquidator.

On mine the wrist pin bushing spun in the rod cutting off oil to it The bushing is softer then the pin but I replaced them both when I took it apart. The filter was covered with bronze shavings. The same thing happened years earlier when the pinion nut backed off and started to wear on the cover bushing. I saw the bronze and went looking for the source.
