Question 76 FLH shovelhead upper end noise

76 flh upper end ticking noise wondering if push rods need adjusted among other possible causes and/or fixes. Anywhere I can read some info on tips, clearances and ect. for adjusting push rods before getting a service manual ?

Get yourself a factory service manual. What all do you know about the bike that you could tell us about ? That ticking could be a variety of things IMHO.

It's a recent buy no one admits to know the history, odometer reads 3700mi, has Elec start, springer front end. Changed leaking primary gasket, repaired short in Elec start circuit and a short in front turn signals one of which caused bike to not run. The guy who sold it said motor oil is used in clutch bath, changed that. Sounds like lifters, wrist pins or cam lobe-push rods are making ticking sound in rythum with rpm's. Gonna get service manual when $ allow just trying to get a plan going for now. Been riding an evo and a town cam the shovelhead is new to me.

This should get you there.... Just make sure you adjust them according to the TPI of the pushrod....

And whatever you do don't go putting "wave" washers in the rocker arms.
