Shovel wiring harness recommendations?
All,
i am going to put a new wiring harness on my bike as do the rebuild. Can anyone recommend a good wiring harness kit?
I have seen this from NAMZ, which looks good:
https://www.namzcustomcycleproducts....0NCBH-01-A.pdf
Anyone know of anything similar that would be a good match?
I am also considering going a little higher tech and using one of these:
http://motogadget.com/shop/en/m-unit...sicherung.html
Which would mean creating my own custom harness, but I can do that and it might be pretty slick!

Just finished wiring a buddies 75 FLH. He found his on the flea. Used the same exact color codes per the shop manual diagram. Only thing I changed was the addition of the circuit breaker off the battery (think that became standard on 78 FLH models).
Herz one from a quick search with all the sitches soldered and ready to install. Might be worth yiur time to email them for some more information.

Thanks for the links folks - some good options there to consider. I particularly like the Ultima option.
I am leaning heavily towards the Motogadget control unit at the moment, which means building a new custom loom, but thats not the end of the world as I am an ex wireman and electronic engineer
Well, all the electric on the bike worked fine - but by the time I am done with it, it will be super clean and sparkly. The old harness has been cut and shut a bit over the years and I think it will let the look of the whole bike down if I keep it.
Plus - if I rewire it, then I will "know" every inch of the electrical system and I'll know its been done as well as it possible can be. So peace of mind as well.....

I'm going to use the Motogadget m-unit and keep the wiring and connectors to the absolute minimum. No relays, no flashers, only one fuse. The m-unit will take care of all of that, plus add an alarm.
It will be pretty easy now I've got my head around it. Would be a different story if I wanted to rewire my Twin Cam - but you've got to love the simplicity of the shovel heads!

take the diagram you get with the wire harness to staples and blow it up 3 feet BY 2 feet its 5 bucks then buy a set of colored markers and trace ( the wiring in the correct colors ) 3 bucks - frame it with a plastic picture frame from wal mart 8 / 10 bucks when you done its great garage Art -- we have all of them ( older harleys / indians in the shop like that
