Default S&S Super B rebuild...

I figure that, since I'm rebuilding the rest of the bike, I may as well rebuild the carburetor while I'm at it. I thought it would be easy to order a kit but there are several available. Mine is a S&S Super B. It's stamped "81" just below the name. It's also stamped "N3927" on top. Can someone point me to the correct rebuild kit?

I just cleaned my E yesterday it is fairly new, gaskets were fine so I reused it, just needed a little clean up from sitting, I would pull the bowl and see if you think it needs a kit, with that said there's 2 kits I would buy the master kit, the B all have 81 on the side and the top is your serial number so just order a b kit if ya need one...

2 things to look for on the B - the throttle shaft bushings and the shaft its self after all the years has and does wear out and will need replacing - also look in the bore at the spot the throttle blade closes against the carbs body and see if it has been worn away - if it has damage /// the idle circuit is going to be affected, as well as starting the bike with a kicker - what happens the opening caused by the throttle blade and the carb body wear - change the sip at the main jet tube and it does not draw enough fuel to start correctly - sometimes bringing the float up higher helps but the k stand lean angle can cause a fuel drip out of the carb -- we even tried - soldering in the bottom hole on the main tube to create more vacuum but it made it run rich hi engine speeds

having said all of that most carbs are not as bad as I have explained and respond well to a tune up carb kit - good luck

On B carbs from 1976-1981 the serial number was stamped on the body above "S&S Super" - the "B" was cast on the body below the "S&S Super". On 1982 and later the serial number was stamped on the body above "S&S Super" and "81" cast on the body on the body below "S&S Super". In 1987 the serial number was stamped above the "S&S Super" "81" cast on the body below "S&S Super" however the serial number starts with "0". So it would appear yours was made from 1982-1986.

As far as kits there a couple that J&P offers up. One is cheaper than the other. Guess it just depends how far you want/need to go.

Also S&S site has tech sheets so you can determine things like float bwol adjustment and also give you some guidelines on jetting.

They are easy carbs to work on, just a modern version of the Linkert Carb IMO.
