Shovelhead wet primary questions
When the 72 FX goes back together I'm going to run a wet primary and do away with the extra oil lines. Will I need to change the clutch discs to a different material to run in a wet primary environment?
When the bike was torn down the clutch plates in there now do not look like the old asbestos based material. The plates have a pink color and look to be some sort of synthetic friction material.
Plans are to use the original oil drip fitting for the primary chain as a vent with a line running up the frame tube.

Crash69, Thanks for the reply. When I tore the bike down it was running a wet primary but all of the hoses were still hooked up. I just want the 3 from the engine to the oil tank.
On my Road King it has a vent hose on the transmission cover that has a nice 180 degree curl to it. That's what I plan on using for a vent hose.
The 72 I bought has great bones but was assembled by Bubba! Wiring was a mess, had both fine and coarse thread engine mount bolts and in other places, the shock mount studs are from at least 2 or 3 different bikes and the list goes on!
Will be fun to have a shovel again for a third bike, last shovel i owned ws a 79 in the early 80's. Plus they're so easy to work on compared to a twin cam with all the electronics.
