Default 79 FLH-80 Rear Brake Pad Change

I'm swapping rear pads and have a first-time question. After I split the caliper, how do I get the piston side to lift up so I can remove the pad and compress it? It sits on a spring and looks like I should be able to lift it but it won't budge.
Thanks
Nick
