Default Need help with saddlebags install 1973 FLH

Ok, here's the deal.
Picked up a cool 1973 FLH a couple of weeks ago. The guy I bought it from stripped it down and took off all of the bags etc. I am putting the rack and the bags back on and I am having a tough time time making the bag rack fit.
I have the front bracket mounted to the top of the shock and on the bottom to the exhaust hanger bolt. I don't see how these could go anywhere else. Anyway when I try to put the framework up it won't go up far enough to mount on the fender rail because it hits the blinkers. Also the bumper guard just isn't fitting right either, who knows maybe I goy it all screwed up somehow?
If anybody has a picture of the stock bag frame work without the bags on it that would help me so much! Thanks for the help.

sounds like you have FXE fender struts not the FLH type as the FLH has the blinkers on a cross bar under the tail light

I have the flh and I do have the blinkers on the cross rail.
The bracket goes underneath the blinkers and they way I have it now I can't get the bracket to go up high enough because it hits the bottom of the blinker rail. Every picture I can find shows it like this, the bracket just under the rail, but mine hits the rail before going up quite high enough. I am not sure if the framework attaches to the flip fender bolt or the one in front of it that which the rack is mounted to? If I just knew someone who had one of these around here, I could just look at it!

not sure these will help, but I had the bag off anyway so I grabbed a couple of pictures for you.

Awesome, just what I needed! You are using the last bolt for the fender, I had it in the one with the rack.
Hopefully that will fix my clearance problems! I will let you know. Looks like my bike, same color. Thanks
