Does anyone happen to know the size of bolts needed to mount a Shovel motor into the frame? It's a Paughco if that matters but I don't think so.

I know you can order kits and I'll probably end up doing that just because they look nicer but for now, I just want to get the thing mocked up and fitted, if I can score the hardware at HD, Lowe's, whatever, that'd be awesome.

the china bolts available at the big box stores are junk - they add the gold colored bolts are grade 8 - but they don't tell you is if you torque them to spec they are one time use

Harley used odd length bolts the rear of the block are 3 3/4 inches - not 3 1/2 or 4 inches

the front I don't remember right off hand but 3 1/4 inches comes to mind but I might be incorrect on that

we only buy USA zinc or cad plated hardware in grade 5 and 8 BUT Harley OEM bolts are USA grade 5 just so you know ( a V and 3 strikes on the bolt head )

 

Thanks for the info...I will be going with USA hardware when the thing is done, will probably end up ordering a kit but for now, I just needed some hardware for mock up.

If anyone else is looking for it, this is what comes in the kits.

-One 7/16"-20 x 11/2" bolt.
-One 7/16"-20 nylock nut.
-Three 15/16" OD x 7/16" ID x 1/8" thick flat washers.
-Two 3/8"-24 x 31/2" bolts.
-Two 3/8"-24 x 23/8" bolts.
-Four 13/16" OD x 3/8" ID flat washers and 3/8"-24 nylock nuts.
