Default slap or thump at idle

hey folks,
I have a 79 flh 80. high compression pistons heads ported flowed ss super e carb stripped down intowner style. Crane hi-4 ignition set to single fire.Everything was working well until set bolts loosened up and changed timing.static timed then set timing per instrutions. Then the adjusting shoe on primary chain loosened up and dropped( screws weren't locktited) Fixed all that jass but i'm getting a slap or thump at idle. bike was rebuilt 3000 miles ago by Harley in ohio. I bought the bike at 1000 miles on rebuild, really doesn't sound like bottom end to me but i'm getting up there and hearing is not very good sounds more like some kind of timing slap or thump to me. Runs great above idle. any ideas?

when you did the primary chain adjustment did you do it on the spot that was the tightest in the total around the chain ?????

Yeah, sounds like your primary chain is too loose. You have to check that sucker in several places to see where it's tightest and set the travel accordingly.

the compensator sprocket discs are loose in the end cover and the idle is slow enough to make them rattle / thump sounding

if you take it off and its not really tight that also is possible

but if you get it off and shake it in your hand and it rattles well you got it
