i have a 76 sh fxe 1200 and needs ew motor i was thinking of buying another shovel and putting my parts but was wondering if i could do this to a 1980 sh fxe 1200. please leave feed back or send a text 904-864-2858

 

Lot of stuff changed in 1979, lot of engine parts changed so you really need to know what your doing or you could get into trouble.

If you are swapping engines there should not be any real problems. If you are swapping engine parts or internals there were changes made. If I remember correctly when I had the Shovel rebuilt in '94 the heads required valve guide work to enable the use of a higher lift cam. That would not have been necessary on earlier heads. Bike is an 80-80.
