Replaced primary gasket over weekend on a 77 FXE with a factory oil slinger still working. About 2 to 3 ounces came out when I removed the cover and was wondering can I or should I put a few ounces back in to get it back to how it was before taken apart?

no, just check the oil level in the oil tank after it runs for awhile. if it needs some oil just add some to the oil tank.
