Changing triple tree question
 

I have a 75 FX that one of the previous owners attempted to convertto a FLH by installing a left side drum Panhead front end.

I’m swapping a more correct OEM 74 FLH front end on the bike.

I bought bearings in a set for the triple trees. That set came with two bearing dust covers, one cover is bigger in diameter then the other.

Does the bigger dust shield belong under the bottom bearing?

NO its for the top if you put it on the bottom water collects in the lower bearing

when you install the smaller of the two you will see its encapsulated in the bearing on the bottom

Well I would have screwed that up!

I'm glad I asked.

Now I'm wondering if I installed them wrong on my 73 back in 2001!
