What Gives....?
 

I've been out of work for a little now and am going nutz........ had a couple of real nice days but have yet been able to ride... I started my 77 a couple times now (which I need to add started so perfectly after 2 months of sitting) but am mentally having a hard time as to when I possibly might be able to go for a ride... How do you guys handle it. Especially the retired guys who have a lot of time but still can't get out because of this or that... Not to mention Mother Nature.... What's your Secret? I need help...

going on my second year of retirement and I'm still learning how to handle it myself ... I did find having a project bike to tinker with does help, and when you finish one it's time to find another ...

I've also got some buddies that let me work on their bikes ... best thing with that is it's their money I spend ...

yeah ive just restored a tiddler...a 125 single two stroke road bike , cheap as to restore , you do everything yourself, then its always fun to rip around town on it, as its light as, goes like the clappers

drink and chase the skirts that are bar fly's-

is always good for using up a day or two each week

then of course bad mitten works for some

Took me a while to figure out the retirement thing but I have it down......pat. When I first retired it was about getting the inside of the house and the backyard done. After that, getting my 49 back on the road (after 18 years finished it over the winter).

In the interim riding and maintenance on my 84 and 65 FLH. In between was an 88 Heritage and a 75 FXE (both sold). Currently working on a barn find 78 FXE. After that will be a complete redo on my 65 with the addition of a hack.

Basically doing what I always said I wanted to do when I retired - riding, maintaining, putting and keeping old iron on the road. Two Shovels and two Pans definitely provide the opportunity to do so.

+1 on the project bike. I'm semi retired but enjoy a project bike in the winter when the snow flies. We've had a pretty mild winter this year that has allowed quite a few windows to get out and ride for a couple of hours as long as it's above 50 degrees.
Cost of OEM parts are becoming restrictive so the challenge is finding that "diamond in the rough."
