solids to hydraulics: pushrods suggestions
I am going back to hydraulics on one of my shovels
New pushrods range from 50 to 200 Any suggestions? Tons of aluminum pushrods out there, what were oem? |
OEM are steel and are thinner than the fat aluminum ones. Thought S&S sold OEM replacement pushrods
|
mid usa this year has been selling alloy that are around the same diameter as stock and they are made in the USA, we have all the ones they sell in stock and have to say i like them

I just looked into their catalog online and found item 60224 by "American *something* Harware" (too small text, couldn't read the name) Googled that item number and found an ebay item for $30 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-...ZXgDbo&vxp=mtr Are those the ones you got? Also found a Sifton aluminum set for 58 (I know Sifton is not what it used to be) Colony aluminum set for 53 S&S steel set for 97 Andrews chrome moly for 85 Unbranded steel single for 20 each ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/17904-66-SH...5ahuvS&vxp=mtr ) "NOS" single by Dixie for 13 each, it says NOS remanufactured ?! (https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-65-84-H....c100005.m1851 ) I see S&S make 2 different al inclusive conversion kits that updates the shovel to evo lifters, but needs evo cams Otherwise I was going for S&S new hydraulic lifters and tappets, Superior tappet blocks and one of the pushrods above with Andrews A2 cam on a 6 speed FXR with stock sprockets |
30 dollar ones are a promo to get them out and they are good USA quality

These are for John
Current state of cam, solid lifters and tappet blocks The oil fitting on the blocks is shut (82) The parts I currently have for the conversion |
cant tell because of the light, but take a good look at the cam and the rollers on the lifters, just to make sure the hardness on the lobes is not being affected by age and wear
pitting or a small flake off of the metal ( on the lobes in the location of the rollers ) is a replacement thing, as the new lifters will be hurt if you don't |
