wow, I had a hunch that was caramelized fuel since the inside surface of the tank appears fine. More work to be done. Thanks guys.
Thanks Architect on my turn front signal issue. I have a 4-plug coil so not sure if it was relocated. Will check it out.
I thought when the manual said "fork terminal board", it was behind the headlight in the fork and I would have to remove the fork covers. I got a lot to learn...what a learning curve...lol.

No, no there is a terminal board in the nacelle as well.
You had asked about the "rear" turn signals, that board is behind the coil. Hard to tell from the picture if it is still there, that vertical piece of metal right behind the top of the coil should be the top bolt mount for the rear terminal board.

I agree. It looks like the PO just cut the wires to remove the OEM front passing lamps/turn signals and rear turn signals. I told him to reinstall the OEM turn signals since it is required in our state to pass safety check. I am planning to reconnect the wiring this weekend.
I have two toggles on one of the covers and 4 wires coming out of the bar...two black and two gray. The black wires were cut but the two gray ones have connector clips. I believe the service diagram has two black as the turn signals so I am assuming the gray is the passing lamps to the toggles. Not sure why you would not connect the two passing lamps together and use one toggle.
