According to the thread link below, the batwing fairing was a removal option in 1969.

Rockher_man - you should post your info in this thread (Electra-glide over the years, a sticky in the Touring section). It did not mentioned the King of the Highway package as part of the history and evolution of the Electra Glide. Good thread, interesting reading..

When you have time and if it is not too much trouble, would appreciate a couple of pics of the inside of your slip-ons....just want to see what is in there after you punched it out....it may also provide some clues on how the plate was attached i.e. welds if any. I can MacGyver it and grind down the welds. Thanks

Back in the late 80's, on stock mufflers, we would just send a large star drill down the muffler and hit it with a BFH. After you felt the center disc "pop", if it didn't come back out with the star drill, start the bike and it would come flying out. Probably wouldn't do that today, but hey we were kids then. Pics taken yesterday, not the easiest thing to see:
Looks good. Is that black portion on the right side a gap or a shadow? Did your tuner only punch out the center portion to open up the pipes and expose the baffles?
Thanks for the pics...very helpful.

A friend who has a springer, shovel, and pan said my shift lever was not correct. It came up because I asked him about a set screw that goes through the lever and the non-splined shaft.
So I bought an OEM heel-toe shifter 34690-65 to replace the one I have. Also needed to replace the inner shift lever with a splined one.
