Default Flywheel id# ???

Hi everyone, I'm looking for info...I have a barn find its a shovel head engine and i do believe it's a stroker when i checked on the flywheel the numbers are as follow
F848-2L ???
can any of you tell me about it, what does it mean. I'd like to put the engine back together but first i'd like to know a little bit more about this engine.

I'd call Truett and Osborn - early S&S did not use the current code system - sometimes the marks on the wheels will give it away - you can also call S&S or send S&S an email on their site - they will respond promptly - people want business these days

2 L is 41/2 stroke 1955 to 1971 I guessed in the other post but was correct about the flat side and stroke size

Are those HD wheels? I wonder if the OP can post a pic of the numbers - I am curious now - I've not seen numbers like that on the HD wheels I've built

no S&S wheels 55 to 71 are 2L series the other numbers are serial
