I agree about the judging thing, we all fall down the rabbit hole every once in awhile, then you remember it is a motorcycle that you intend on riding, not putting in a museum. That said, if I needed a part I would do the same and make sure I got the right one for my year. Aftermarket sucks because of fitment issues, much rather have the HD part. A disease I tell you..............

Read most of the posts here for this generator shovel but not all. A few folks mentioned searching the VIN. Before 1970 I don't believe any Harley really had a VIN on the frame as we know it today. They have motor numbers which showed the year and model. My '52 Pan(the one in my sig pic) was 52FL1624 if I recall, always had an issue when the DOT was looking for a VIN and lots more numbers. 52 was the first year you could get foot shift FLs. Mine had a mouse trap clutch which I thought worked well even though there were lots of parts to it. Good luck with this and I agree a pogo seat would be great...

The blue looks great and correct in person but the camera sure doesn't so it looks darker like viper blue vs the lighter metallic blue that it is. Very pleased and the white is next but I think I need to install my tanks and mark where the console ends to get the white in the right position.

You get a hint of the actual colour on the rounded edge of the rear fender from the flash. These are fresh from the booth straight from the gun. Wet sand and polish to follow.

Used my pinstripe tape to get an idea of how big I want the white panel on the tank and needed the console in place to establish the starting point. I've seen a variety of sizes and Ill admit I prefer to be on the smaller end so it doesn't become a white tank with some blue on it.

Again, the colour irritates me in the photos but great in person.

My bike came with a Taiwan Tedd console on it and this one in a box full of parts. Does this look OEM (based on the little side lens looking thingy vs the Taiwan one) or is it an old repop part that came out when I was still swimming around in my dads bag?
