Im beginning to understand now, what you just said above is key thank you. The factory number is what was confusing me. How two different rims could have the same number, one with the inner bead and one without. So mine should have a rolled lip being 66 but no inner bead keeping the tire in place.

Taking forever to get blue on these parts. I think I lucked out big time getting this fender though.
Would I be the biggest moron on the planet if I left the inside alone and retained the original hi-fi red to prove its an OEM fender that was in excellent condition?

I went with stainless spokes, very sharp looking when complete. But my '70 has gone thru the Chrome ***** phase of life, so shiny works. It would be too much effort and money to go back to aluminum, so I just embrace my one bike that gets called "pretty" by all the ladies. Chrome won't get you hoe, but it will get you laid, seems to be words of wisdom. Ladies like them shiny.
