'75 FXE Custom Wiring Review
I'm trying to rework the wiring on a '75 I picked up, that has been rewired but I haven't tested it. A few sections were beat up so I have been cleaning it up. But, when I compare how this is wired to some online diagrams, it fits some but not all. I drew up a rough diagram of how this one is wired. If anyone can look it over and tell me anything that is drastically wrong I would appreciate it. OR if anyone has a simple diagram for both the starter relay (changed to SS) and solenoid that would be great.
Other info:
- No start button. it has an old feeler gauge mounted to jump the solenoid.
- No blinkers, front brake switch, horn, gauges or accessory lights.
- headlight is joined to run both bright and runners, no dimmer switch.
Thanks!

Attached is the factory wiring diagram. However, if your bike has some piecemeal harness you may want to consider a complete replacement that has the correct gague and color wires to make it easy to service and troubleshoot any future issues?

your relay in the second picture will set off the starter when you turn the key on -- the 86 on the relay is for the button one to relay one to the key on - your ground is usually to the neutral switch so you cant start it in gear -- I have heard I don't need that and then you hear the crash to the floor

Good advice, thanks!
So, if I added a starter button to the 86 tab on the relay, would that make a full circuit? ( Like 86 ------ Starter Button -------- Ignition )
I have a nice fat weatherproof 30 amp momentary button that would mount perfectly under the battery box, it sure would look nicer than a crusty feeler gauge poking out of the solenoid.
