Thanks Panz. A you can see mine is mounted a little different, and I'm going to adjust those wires.

My oil line is mounted just like yours. Just curious, is that the dedicated chain oiler line or a vent line? If there was 2 line used, would they just be mounted next to each other, or do some people just use one or the other?

Re: starter relay....That battery tray is actually set up for the Delco Remy starter relay and not the type that I have posted above (and appears you have mounted on your bike). So I would guess that someone drilled at least one extra hole in the battery tray in order to mount the later style starter relay and then maybe changed thier mind and mounted it in the place of the Delco Remy spot.

Re: vent line...The line in my pic is a dedicated line just for the chain oiler. The vent line off the motor should only come into play if your motor sumps on start up. My 84 FLH never has (knock on wood); my 78 FXE did it for the first time this last weekend. I run the vent line from the case to the right side of the frame and use a zip tie to secure it. That way the line doesn't drift to the center of the frame and ensures that if it pucks oil it is not going to go under the rear wheel.

Thank you panz4ever.

I'm learning a lot from the bike and all the threads in this section. One thing I don't have a question about is the reason for the 3 "vent" holes in each saddlebag. I remember those days, made me smile first time I seen them.

Still have a very old set with the same type of holes. If you were in a group of riders you could always tell who was carrying the refrreshments.

Shifter is very sloppy, thought I would change bushing, after taking cover off I see this. Is that weld original? I'm thinking not, 2nd pik shows hole for grease zerk, cant have one, not enough clearance from bracket, looks like it need to rotate to dip in bracket. 3rd pik, used a mirror to show back side. New bushing(Colony) seems no better for slop. Shaft is 29/64" and bushing is 35/64". Should I add a new bracket to my swap meet list if I want to tighten it up?

the weld is not what Harley did - the bushing can be spun on the lathe and fitted to what you have cheaper then a bracket kit

Thanks John, understand that except opening in bushing for shaft is larger than shaft. Almost like it's the wrong bushing, I did double check part number

the OEM real parts are n0 longer available - china cant measure for **** anything - so it will look like a china part from the moment you take it out of the recycled rubber package its been in

finding a real used part is the game and start over with the correct bushing in the correct bracket - is the only deal if you want it to work as it should

I hear ya, that's the plan. The Colony package say's "Made In USA" but either bushing or shaft is wrong. Just something else to figure out.
