Default Finally!

After living here vicariously for the last few years, I finally picked up a pair of wheels. 86", ported/polished heads and a cam of unknown type. Needs cosmetic attention, but for the price I can't complain. Any cheaper and it would have to come in baskets.

So I brought it home yesterday afternoon. Supposed to have high 40s-low 60s for the next week. I get up and there is 3" of snow on the ground.

LOL. Will do. Didn't even get it home without an issue. The former owner had it at the dealship for a thorough going over - new fluids, electrical check etc to make sure it was safe and roadworthy (been sitting for the last 5 years). They forgot to put the nuts that hold the starter relay back on. So I stop for gas, and can't get the bike started. Have to kick start it (2nd try, and I've never kicked a bike in my life, so all good there). Get home thinking the starter seized or something and then notice the relay lying against the frame, shorting the terminals out.

There's plenty to do. Tins need paint, wiring clean up, chrome is pitted, etc.

Not sure how close to stock this bike is (77 Low Rider). Not very I don't think. I probably won't worry about returning it to stock and just have fun with it.

Just make it reliable and ride it. In the 80s I had many fellow tourers riding with me on shovels. Properly done a shovel motor is a good motor.
