Default Turn Signal question??

On my 1983 FLT classic, I hold the turn signal button down and it blinks, soon as I let off the button it turns off.
Is this normal for this model, on my other bikes the turn signal would stay on 10-20 seconds after I hit the button.

Is there a way to make it stay on briefly without holding the button?

No... wrong switch installed... needs to be a Double Pole single throw switch.. such that Hot [Green] attaches to both directionals wires, [Purple and Brown]
actually only using 3 poles... Just like holding both Buttons simultaneously..

Not a relay at all... mine was a Toggle looking switch..
just ask for one like this

and put the 12v [Green only as that comes from the Flasher unit] to the in [both of them] and purple and brown on the two Outputs..= Switch on for 4 ways...

My 80 ironhead was like that....and it sucked having to hold down the button while throttling through the turn. Can't beat self cancelling TS but not correct on these old bikes. At least my shovel stays on without holding it down but always forget to turn the blinker off.

Should work then... two 12v inputs jumped together fed by Green...one each purple and brown on the Outputs...

HSCIC; I been holding the button for so damn long I do Not believe I could get along with a "set" situation...maybe with a Large economy size Indicator to remind that they are On!!!!

Smiling.. Remembering that my Bitter Half still uses hand signals after all these years, even when on the Back..... hell she used hand signals when she took her MC endorsement test!!!!
