Hi John...good to see You here!
What Lizy just did, was install this kickstand spring...because I hollered at Her a couple times.
Twas worried about Blue Moon falling on Lizy. (Blue Moon is this Shovels nickname)
The original spring was missing when Lizy started this job.
Lizy,
The pennies aren't hurting anything right now, unless John or Shovelsrule say different.
I think they will fall out the first time the stand is swiveled all the way up.

John, what you stated was already covered in post #258 with pics (below), however according to Frog, she has no lift or jack......
On another note just from looking at the pics, was the bike actually soaked with WD40 or something similar as recommended by John in the beginning of this thread or is Lizy doing the soaking as she works on things? I believe there was a reason for this suggestion.
okay, sorry for reiterating, I am done.

I just replaced my kickstand, spring, and all of the mounting hardware on my 71....you will need a lift or jack to get the bike off the ground. Remove the floorboard (2 bolts), remove the bolt on the lever and wiggle the lever out, and remove shift lever cover (2 screws) to give you access to the bolt on the top of the jiffy.
Here is Panz' pic he posted on my thread which is beautifully labelled.
With those pieces off, you can drop the jiffy stand down just enough to rotate it forward (front of the bike) and take all the tension off the spring to replace it
Here is my bike with those 2 pieces off...
Be sure to get the correct length spring....I ordered a direct replacement and it was the wrong length. Here is a pic. The left one is the correct length.
Wow you even have an OEM rectifier....I had the same one but had to replace mine since it wasn't charging my battery. Something (charging system) you will need to check when it's time. Frog is active on this thread so he can guide you.

Lizy...
When You have time, post a few more pics so we can look at more stuff
while Your at work please?
Like close up shots of both sides of Her engine..parts that we haven't seen clearly yet,
under the back of engine..anything else You have time for.
P.S.
You realize when Blue was held upright while You was installing this kick stand spring,
The oil Ya put in Her cylinders got sloshed around Her pistons a little bit, this is a good thing..
Have Ya figured out why I suggested that particular brush and holder thing yet?

Every pic is very helpful Lizy, thank You!
Ah, the brush. Its for a few things..scrubbing Her jugs, cleaning her wheels/spokes, anywhere it will fit/go.
Using these saves Your fingers, and can reach places fingers cant.
The holder is to put liquid in..some type of cleaner first, then WD40, maybe old motor oil..whatever Ya decide to
use for preservation on stuff.
Is the vise grips still on Her choke cable under the knobb?
If so, see if Ya can twist it all the way around without scratching her dash..if Your SURE the cables disconnected from the carburetor.
Maybe we can save it, being your Dad don't want to cut anything yet.
We know money is prolly a bit tight right now, vet bills and all.
Meantime how about some cleaning..and deciding what parts needs some help/work etc.
Ask any questions about what Your cleaning/working on please..
Maybe some day You will decide to do this for a living, make 100.00 per hour doing this stuff..saving Vintage Harley's
