Reading this while at work or bored waiting on the big brown truck,
Might help You understand us.(the ugly ole greybeards trying to help Ya.)
For instance,
Jugs are the cylinders(the things Her pistons are in)
Lifting Her skirt...see the hinge on Her rear fender?
etc

We have to keep Her interest here!
To answer Your question Lizy... about brake lever, see the chrome pin on top of the master cylinder assembly? that's what holds the lever in place.
Theres a circlip on the bottom of it..take that off ..then push up on the pin, then pull it out from the top side.
Having the parts book is a good thing, it has detailed pictures with part numbers, this makes hunting them on eBay easy.
Right.
Having to use a impact driver to remove Her air cleaner screws bothered me..has She been under water?
Remembering all the floods around Houston...Thats the reason I suggested looking in Her jugs first thing.
Using a penlight, remember? Yes that might be easier after Her tanks are off.
Wow..some of these words sounded bad..whoops, I gotta watch this i guess.

Re: brake pin - ok cool thanks! I was afraid that whole handle would have to be disassembled so that痴 good. We値l have to see if that痴 rusted stuck too lol

and no not underwater but definitely has been rained on plenty the inside of the cover was pretty rusty as well as the next thing under it that i don稚 know what it痴 called it has like a circle indention in the middle but I致e got the majority of the rust off that and the carb looks ok from what I can see from where it is but I知 far from an expert lol

i looked in the gas tanks and they don稚 look rusty or anything either there痴 just some like crumbs in them so I think that痴 good👍

We got the seat off yesterday and started trying to get the dash off and got the side **** off but where the choke is on there痴 like a cap on the top and that is either very stuck or somehow attached to where we can稚 remove the little nut that is there :/

We are gonna have to figure that part out though bc the whole cable for it looks pretty bad

We gave up on that for now and started trying to get the tanks off and got the front bolt loose but the other is just turning in place so gonna need to try and find a way to hold the nut for that one so it doesn稚 just turn with the bolt so for now we just have the seat pieces soaking in rust remover for now.

Gonna try to get my brother to split the cost for a battery for our dads birthday when he comes down this weekend so we値l see what goes next

Good for you!
If You want to read it, Hscic has a Harley that's 3 years older than Yours, with detailed pics..
Even the crud he got out of Her tank..pics of the dash disassembled..here it is,
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/shove...lhead-110.html

Oh...always ask us here before buying anything please.
We know the best places and what brands are best..and some of us has truck loads of parts.
Would we "part" with them...who knows. (pun intended)
Heres the battery I would buy,
https://www.wholesalebatteriesdirect...e-battery.html

And I guess its time to introduce You to real music now

Be very careful here Young Lady..before You know it we will have Ya drinking Jack Daniels, smoking that funny green stuff and shooting guns for fun too...lol

take pictures and make a going list of odd stuff you may need, most have a box or two of odds and ends that are just sitting collecting dust you could score

FIRST thing to do is work on getting it running and what ever that takes -- the Christmas lights can happen when you spend the money it takes to actually get it to a running condition

Snapped while trying to loosen bolt

Got the seat off

We got that one loose

We got the main part loose but can稚 get the top off the choke thing so haven稚 got it off yet. Still gotta figure that out so we can replace the choke cable :/

This one is still stuck just turning in place haven稚 found something to hold the bolt on the other side with yet been busy the past couple days lol

Unfortunately no I haven稚 had the chance to ask but my brother is coming later today and I should also be getting a battery from a friend later today so hopefully we can work on it a bit more later

Oh and the friend that痴 supposed to be getting a battery should hopefully be bringing the brake handle too so hopefully can get that done too lol

And yeah the ignition key does turn 👍

Thank You fer these pics..they help us a lot.
ok..heres a suggestion er two..rent a electric pressure washer from Home Depot..
go over every square inch of Her. lay on Yer back beside Her so You can wash underneath too.
Make sure the guys put Her in the garage for you! (cleaned up or not)
Buy this stuff..triple ought steel wool for Her chrome stuff..little brass brushes for hard to get off grime.
(only used on certain parts)
Save all Yalls old tooth brushes also..lol

Dont worry about my pics here, they will disappear after a while so i don't muddy up Your great thread.
