Have a friend who thought he had an issue with lifters in his twin cam, These were V-Thunder lifters( none of us heard or saw the issue he thought he was hearing) So he went and replaced the lifters with Johnson lifters and when all said was done, Bike started and sounded great, BUT after test riding and getting warmed up developed the same sounding noise you have.
After multiple attempts to adjust push rods, check for oil, ect,
He has a bad front lifter. It bleeds down when it warms up.
We replaced the lifter and bike runs and sounds fine.
I'm not saying this is your issue but it sounds exactly the same.

Although it won't work on shovelheads, rocker shaft locks (Rockout/Rocker Locker) does a good job in getting rid of that top end noise. Installed them in my Sportster when I worked at the dealership a few years ago and no more noise...the techs at the dealership were so amazed (they were very skeptical) they ordered a whole bunch after they heard my bike since that is a common issue from customers with twin cams and evo big twins.
To the OP - awaiting your solution to the issue. Always like to read threads with resolution.
