76 FXE End In Sight, But Still Need Help W/Exhaust Spacers
If anyone knows a way or can help with the length of pictured 5761 & 62 spacers I need it. As you can see by pics the exhaust is my last major obstacle and the spacers are what is holding it up. I've contacted ebay seller selling a FXE to see if he could measure the spacers to no avail, asked Jan Willem Boon who has them in stock but does not sell to US with no luck. Also a big shout out to those who have helped me thru this garage resto especially with the starter mod and inner/outer primary & clutch concerns. End is in sight!!

If you need a larger diameter with a 3/8ths hole , pm me

Slip the pipes on one at a time and stack 3/8" washers till it fits right then measure the stack, there's the spacer size, if OD clearance in an issue 5/16" washers will work also. Most custom parts catalogs carry universal spacers just for this kinda stuff.

I have correct bolts and I bought 2" spacers to cut down to correct lengths. Just need to know how long the spacers are as they dictate the spacing of muffler support to frame
|
Wouldn't the alignment of the muffler to the head pipe dictate the thickness of the spacer? I assume the head pipes are made so the muffler isn't against the frame. Thus the need for the spacer in the first place.
I'd try using the washers to determine the necessary thickness of the missing spacer then simply fab the needed items. but still yet imo the alignment on the head pipe is still the main item to consider. |

The parts catalog is deceiving. The spacers go behind bracket and set the distance bracket is from frame. Front spacers have nothing to do with mufflers themselves only the mounting bracket. |
For pipe alignment you get a few steps behind the bike down at pipe level and look along that side of the bike then tweak the pipes till they align properly with the lines of the bike, nothing sticking in or out at odd angles. No big thing there.
I'm a bit overly anal about pipe fitment on a shovel, you can lift my bike by the pipes. Saves all kinds stupid if done right the first time. |

This is pic of 5761 spacer from seller who does not sell to US. I can't translate the pic into a length - not sure how zoom lens distorts length, or if it does? |
Eyeball micrometer says if that's a 3/8" hole the length is either 9/16" or 5/8", OEM I'm thinking 9/16", Harley liked odd sizes on stuff.
