Battery Replacemnt FLH Models

Just wondering where folks are getting OEM syle batteries for the FLH models. I have in the past got mine from www.batterystuff.com They offered the Scorpion AGM which is a direct replacement for the Yuasa lead acid style. However they are out of stock.

Just came back from a 2-day road trip (6-1/2 hours one way) to look at an 80 with a hack. Was told it was in perfect running condition. Of course I got there and the battery was like seriously dead. Bike has not been started in at least 2 years. Tires are way past accepted DOT codes and tire on the hack looks like it is still original from 1980. On the plus side it is a complete bike and very original and overall in fair condition but needs some serious TLC. He has the recipts for redoing the motor. Says the crank got spun at 19K. Receipts with labor came out to just over 4K. Hasn't ben ridden except for about 1000 miles since the rebuild (2016). He is the second owner.

Unfortunately the price point is firm at 16K. So while it is a nice bike (but not 16K nice), you just know that to get it running is going to take some extra money what with tires, fluids, cost of trailering (don't have my own so would need to rent one), and an additional overnight stay, and whatever else you find once you get it home and get into it.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I was going to recommend the Scoirpion (they asked for a recommendation) but at this point I am stuck.

try a 'MOTOBATT', they do good quality AGM batteries, I fitted one to my Electraglide about 5 years ago & it's still going strong,...
79-83 FLH's use this one MBHD12H

Last week I picked up a battery from the HD dealer for my 82 Wideglide. Made in USA, I believe Deka makes them for HD and on my bike not having the outer battery cover I was happy to see it had the bar and shield symbol front and center so it looks right in the bike.

Thanks for the updates from all re: battery

Seller of the hack told me she had a buyer for the bike up in Canada. Have to say the bike definitely looks better in pics than in person but hey, there is a seat for every rider. I offfered them my best after explaining why I could not offer them the requested price.

John, we only look like $$$ because of the price it takes to live here. I have a good pension and a wife in tech who helps keep us here. And it helps that we live within our means and that our only debt is a house payment.

Millions have packed up and did not even wave good buy - the left has destroyed what was once a really really great place to live - lots and lots of reasons

consider it as they will - not if - cut pensions - next - they want the peasant votes your not considered any more as helpful - and better cheaper place is a cheaper better place

you have way too many stupid over educated morons as an example

Me too....8 years ago. Was a great place to grow up in the 60's but those days are gone forever. Moved to Arizona and love it here.
Gees..... 200 for a new FLH shovel battery? My '72 needs one but I'm gonna look around for something cheaper..... if they exist and last a few years.
