I’ve just joined. I’m from the UK
this is my 1978 shovel head.
unfortunately it’s not full size, but a Tamiya 1/6th model that I made a few years ago. I’ve got 3, but this is the best. I've collected hundreds of images of different parts and whole bikes, so I can make it as real looking as possible.
The Tamiya kit is good, but there’s lots missing. So I’ve added all the oil lines, wiring, oil pressure switch, brake light switch etc, etc.
I’m just about to start another one, which will be based on a late 75th anniversary model in black cherry.
I’m hoping to make this one better than the last, and put right some of the mistakes I made on the last one.
one thing I have searched and searched for without success is a photo of the rear chain oiler on the back of the transmission plate. I’ve got pictures of the plate with the P clip attached, but none with the hose fitted or how it is routed from the adjuster on the oil pump.
needs to be post 1977 when the thin oil line runs all the way to the chain, and doesn’t elbow down into the T piece at the pump. All the transmission plates I’ve seen have a large P clip from early models with a thicker dual chain oiler/breather hose.
Any photos of this area would be awesome
thank you
Gary

And thank you Bill for the photo. That is exactly what I was after. Much appreciated. Is it held by any other clips along its length?
It's pretty much how I imagined. So basic, some must miss the chain completely and drip straight on the floor. No wonder so many people blank them off
Thanks again

So all the oil collects in the "U bend", and dumps a load next time you take a left hand turn?
Good to see the clip for the brake line there as well on the other side.
I notice the later trans plate is stamped steel rather than the previous machined one. Can I really be bothered to make a new one from scratch though??
