When timing the cam, you don't use the TDC mark because the cam mark on the crank gear is not aligned to TDC. Just line up the breather and the crank marks with the marks on the cam gear and ignore where the piston is in relation to TDC.
The cam is not timed to the TDC mark - you use the pinion at 12 o’clock and the one cam mark at 6 o’clock and the other for the breather is around 2 o’clock and the cam gear is around 8 o’clock - put the cover on - set the timing at TDC and turn the trigger till the light goes out - your done
your over thinking it — the ignition is timed at the TDC mark not the cam gears - the cam is on the base circle on one of the TDC up strokes and the other time its at TDC is over lap both valves are open a bit -
Make sure the TDC timing mark on the flywheel is in the correct position on the compression stroke on the front cylinder, the cam, pinion and breathers marks should look like this.

Finally got it figured out (kind of) ended up useing the advanced mark for the rear cyclinder to time the ignition.. fire.
d rite up and purred like a kitten
Not sure why but i,ll take it as a win..lol thanks for the help everybody
